it's obviously bad that people are getting killed in israel. in NO CASE do civilians deserve to die. but don't expect us to feel bad for Israel when they have inflicted the same pain on countless other arab world nations

Seriously though, why should we feel sympathy when these same people have loudly been proclaiming that hundreds of thousands of people deserve to die on account of the government they live on. Maybe don’t start fights you can’t win?

Some of them are kids who had no part in this

Yes and that’s sad. I feel bad for them. The vast majority of the population though hold utterly disgusting, racist views, and are now experiencing a small fraction of what they’ve done to their neighbors for decades (except they all have government funded bomb shelters and US air defenses stolen from South Korea and Ukraine)

I agree, I’m just cautious of painting with such a broad brush, because I know the US can be painted the same exact way (the majority of the voters appear to hold racist views). Afaik we haven’t taken any from Ukraine yet (not sure whether they’re even ours to take, weren’t they essentially given to them?) but yeah, I’m pissed that we have to move stuff from the UAE and South Korea because of this

I may have been incorrect about Ukraine. But re:broad brush, all the polling shows that this insane bloodthirsty conduct has majority support. We’re lying to ourselves if we pretend that millions of Israelis aren’t just as bloodthirsty as their sociopathic leaders are. People talk so much about how the population is against all this, but then Netanyahu has remained in power for a decade so….

A society can be right wing and not deserve to be bombed. The same way Palestinians shouldn’t get bombed even if their society is largely homophobic.

And of course being bombed only makes people more right wing. Netanyahu won his first election as PM narrowly because it was directly preceded by a Hamas bombing campaign. Right wing radicalisation doesn’t happen in a vacuum or overnight

Uh the difference is that Israel is being bombed because of an aggressive war it started and which it’s people support. Iran is responding appropriately to a country that is trying to reduce it to at best a state of civil war that would kill millions. Why does Israel have some special right to bomb everyone around it with no danger? America should stop funding the Iron Dome, Israel and Israelis should have to make that choice “is it worth attacking” accounting for the blowback.

My whole point is that no matter what people’s politics, they don’t deserve to be bombed and their bombing shouldn’t be celebrated. Also the Iranian regime is totally illegitimate

Israel does not have the special right to bomb. I would never celebrate Iranian Lebanese or Palestinian civilians being bombed, regardlsss of their politics

I’d agree if it weren’t for the fact that Israel and Israelis celebrate precisely this happening to hundreds of thousands if not millions of people. This is justice, karma’s a bitch, Israel (and America) could end this literally when they want.

I have family in Israel who were absolutely not celebrating people being bombed. Who have always voted for the most left wing parties on the ballot. And I have three baby nieces who can’t even talk yet. Condemning a whole nation to die is never ok

I hope your family remain safe. When did I say a whole nation should die? I think Iran would be entirely right to bomb us here in America too if they could, that’s war. This is precisely how urgently we need to end this war, because it is in our power to stop the war literally today if we wanted to.

I would love to stop the war too. I think there’s a difference between feeling bad for the government or specific groups of hateful citizens and feeling bad for an entire citizenry many of whom either didn’t or couldn’t vote for this

we are actively backstabbing our allies, going back on our agreements in order to keep feeding THAADs to cheap Iranian drones. At this rate we will literally have none left because a substantial portion of the existent batteries have already been damaged or destroyed by Iran. We are unironically dismantling the US empire lmao
