I’m a firm believer that anyone who supports this administration deserves what’s coming to them

We don’t heal by making life worse for the “other side”. That’s why we’ve been spiraling into this mess over the last 50 years

I don’t want to make life worse for the other side, but that doesn’t mean I won’t say I told you so when the guns inevitably turn inwards towards themselves

I don’t support this administration in the slightest. I support closing the partisan gap. Making room for love of your neighbor again, rather than this constant hate we’ve grown accustomed to.

Closing the gap yes, but that doesn’t mean capitulating to hateful ideologies, nor accepting those ideologies back into mainstream society. Research the paradox of tolerance. People may be reconciled, but not without effort, and we should not ever accept the hateful ideas that led to these events (from any point in history).

It’s not policies i want the gap to be bridged in. It’s recognizing the common humanity in your “enemy”. Putting aside ideological differences (outside the ballot box) in favor of creating a positive connection

While I agree, you recognize the flaw with ignoring ideology when some people want to enact physical harm, or death, upon others due to their ideology? That’s why I said research the paradox of tolerance. A functioning society cannot tolerate ideologies that are inherently intolerant of others (ex: the Nazis). If we just accept/love everyone, regardless of ideology, we end up helping them in their end-goal by ignoring their ideological goals of committing harm on others (by not interfering)

We can teach them though! I’m not saying to ignore or outcast them outright, but imo it’s the age old saying of “you can lead a horse to water but can’t force it to drink”.
