Do people think medieval and Roman craftsmen weren’t educated? They were highly skilled specialists. They weren’t just random dudes making it up as they went along.

I wonder why roads built for dozens of wagons a day outlast roads built for hundreds or thousands of 2 ton high speed vehicles a day

Except most Roman roads literally don’t exist anymore, and the type of traffic going across them is vastly different than today

And some of them were absolutely what we’d call engineers today. They had aqueducts that lead to complex plumbing systems complete with fountains. You can’t build things like the Colosseum by just winging it
