I think HSR should be framed as freeing up space on the roads for drivers and lowering gas prices bc less car ridership. Whether those points manifest and become true would remain to be seen, but it’s about making an appealing pitch.Eh it’s tough, people have seen how over-budget every American hsr project has gone and like 1 says there’s the issue of making it appealing. The reason most people wouldn’t choose hsr for a long journey in the us is because they likely need a car to get around once they get to the city they’re traveling to, making the whole thing a headache. We need effective LRT/bus transit to complement hsr if we want it to work. Which sucks because it’ll take investments this gov definitely wouldn’t support
