People were paying to make themselves stupid long before AI: cable news, gambling apps, infinite scroll. The research on AI is mixed. Passive offloading dulls thinking, critical use can sharpen it. And "done away with" how? Open-source models already run on home computers. You can't ban math. What you can do is regulate the companies, fight the data center deals, and teach people to use it critically. That's a fight you can actually win.
