i saw like 3 today on social media. thats why i specified content. and i checked. these were all people words horrifically (who happened to be using tiktoks as primary sources mispronouncing words that they should encounter DAILY as a political content creator who have 100k+ followers EACH. like im sorry i actually am not listening to them.
i think its important because anyone who claims to be in these political spheres or have education in polisci or history would have heard these things pronounced and read them a BUNCH. they use it incorrectly and mispronounce it. and then rewatched the video and didn’t recognize their mistake so clearly thats a mistake. then their “sources” are FB posts or tiktoks like oh…thats a problem when they may be someones only source of political awareness
i have a degree in government and am finishing my history B.A. now. so these are content creators Larping as people well educated in general, but especially educated on the subjects they’re influencing people on as it relates to politics yet CONSTANTLY mispronouncing words common in peer reviewed social science journals or using them wrong? not possible. its sketchy and i dont trust them. we talk about industry plants in entertainment, lets talk about the ones in politics
no exactly! like theres a lack of understanding on meaning and pronunciation of like words that are more than 2 syllables. but to other people who lack that understanding as well it sounds smart. and THOSE are the people, like i said on both sides, who take what they say as truth at face value and form personal political philosophies off of that. i think thats a problem. classic case of the blind leading the blind, but one of the blind just talks “smarter”.
