Lmao I have a 3D printer and its a lot more work than it seems. You also need metal machined parts that are critical, and even after all of the materials you still have to register it. Easier to just buy one from the underground markets

The only parts you can't print nowadays are the buffer assembly, the barrel, bcg and some springs

Also is the registration a state thing? I don't have to do that with my 3d printed guns.

In fact mine don't even have serial numbers to be registered with

Alright… whats the issue then? Lets say I print, sand, possibly paint and prime, assemble, and calibrate my 3d printed gun, and let’s assume that it was completely free… it’s a pretty extensive project. I feel like everybody would benefit if they also printed one for themselves and learned how firearms work. Of course if you 3-D print it and not register that’s a not good but you can also just purchase a gun from some shady guy for a lot less effort

A factory manufactured frame is typically significantly more expensive than 3d printing one, you cannot change the material properties of a factory built frame within the bounds of what FDM printing can do, and when purchasing a gun from an FFL it must be serialized.

Im not really sure myself to be honest. I think registering a firearm is anti second amendment but whatever. Its a dumb system but thats only my opinion (im a center-right libertarian)

Well I'm comparing buying one from an FFL with 3d printing one for yourself, not any type of black market (dunno what that'd even look like).

also keep in mind I can make a gun in many ways besides printing it. I have my own hobby CNC machine as well…

It looks like messaging a guy on telegram or something and sending them bitcoin and then receiving it via encrypted instructions for a dead-drop location to pick up.

That sounds like a lot more work and potential risk than just printing out a frame and shipping yourself an upper

I personally would never go to buy a gun from any private individual if I do not already have a gun

Well considering they know the drop and are inclined to make it somewhere away from where people are, I would still bring a gun and a friend with a thermal monocle.
