Ultimately it’s all 4 but my primary motivation is moral. Nobody’s free ‘til everybody’s free.

Combination of the above but mainly fairer (and more efficient) outcomes. I think capitalism creates perverse incentives because it’s structured around labor exploitation, and that market socialism would be a better way to capitalize (pun intended) on the strengths of market economies.

3. the climate crisis is wholly derived from the economic system’s blatant disregard for ecology, viewing land and animals as natural resources rather than functional components of earth systems

I think capitalism can only work if it’s hyper regulated. I wouldn’t call myself a communist, lots of leftist would call me a liberal. I think the current American status is what happens when workers are mistreated and the system needs to be torn down and rebuilt, it’s too late to reform

Other. System isn’t working and something needs to change. The way wealth is distributed in a country that produces so much profit is disgusting.

I am a communist because I know a better future is possible. One where humanity and this world itself is put before profit

I think most probably would say that, but in the sense of the poll-taking mindset, I was trying to identify the MOST prevalent thought. Yours works in a similar way.

Though I think one can separate “capitalism is failing/has failed” from “morally opposed”. I wouldn’t immediately rule out in yours that just because socialism/communism has failed in the past would immediately mean they’re a fan of capitalism. It’s just essentially saying “this sucks, we need change, I don’t care what it is but what we currently have isn’t working” as compared to “capitalism is exploitative”

The follow up question then would be “Do you think communism/socialism would explicitly help/save ecology or do you think it’s simply a better alternative for the environment that is less impactful against it?”

It absolutely would. Less overproduction, more free time for people to enjoy and engage with the natural world, and as Orangutan said, not simply viewing the natural world as a commodity

I’ve seen it voiced before from the position that society must REVERSE course, not just slow down on production. Basically using less energy/no energy at all in everyday products/actions.
