as someone who was raised this way and who had to work to unlearn it all, I’ll tell u exactly what the subconscious processing is theyre telling on themselves when they say its pattern recognition. they rarely interact with POC irl but they see all these news and media stories and their brain literally gets wired to fear or judge them. unfortunately they stop just before realizing the defining factor between them and the criminals on the news is actually socio-economic not race
