One thing I’ve noticed about the left currently is everyone acts like Dems will win every election forever. I keep seeing people suggest laws restricting “offensive speech” or “misinformation” as if that wouldn’t be inevitably abused by Republicans

Absolutely. Any laws against hate speech, anti-abortion, would be absolutely flipped on their head by another administration. Would the people proposing these laws on restricted speech be comfortable with Trump deciding what speech is allowed and what isn’t? I would guess no.
