im pretty sure that means “your mission” as in specifically the stuff that Israel is doing. “unmatched skill and iron determination” is him complimenting israel

he basically is saying “good job thanks for teaming up with us” not “we’re doing the thing you told us to do really really well”

Ah I can see that interpretation but it’s also a real poor choice of words considering one of the main points of contention about this war

yeah well its in his interest that that remains a point of contention, that way he doesn’t get blamed if things go south

So maybe it was a really good choice of words then. Nuremberg defense I like it

not to paint israel as a victim or anything bc they are for SURE not but this is historically how antisemitism has always worked on the institutional/government level. governments make decisions that they know might be unpopular with people and then they consistently emphasize the fact that those decisions are related to Jews/a Jewish organization/something Jewish. even better if they can make it out that the Jews are benefitting from it and imply that Jews asked or demanded for it

we’re all predisposed to associate Jews with self interest, power, control, and conspiracy so they just let our imagination do the rest and boom all our rightful anger is diverted away from the government

like some medieval kingdoms had Jews be tax collectors so when the king raised the taxes and the peasants got angry they would attack Jewish villages instead of the king/lord himself

not a direct comparison obviously bc Israel certainly has a lot more power and autonomy than Jews did back then but the control part strikes me as similar

israel does bad things and the US does bad things but the US doesn’t do bad things BECAUSE of israel, it does it because it benefits the US government. the problem with believing the US does bad things because of Israel is that it means US politicians don’t get the heat they deserve for decisions they freely made. and US politicians know that so they are very happy for us to think they’re acting on orders from Israel instead of on their own accord

I don’t think what you’re saying is necessarily wrong, in that the people in power in the US benefit from what Israel does — and that’s the problem. Zionist interests align closely with many US interests. If israel didn’t exist, we wouldn’t be going to war with Iran right? I agree that Israel doesn’t directly control the US, but that their interests are mutual. The issue is that Israeli interests are constantly put ahead of the American people’s interests. That’s what Hegseth’s words demonstrate

tbh i think we would be going to war if Israel didn’t exist, we’d do it for oil probably. and i don’t think Israeli people’s interests are put in front of American people’s interests, i think the interests of both governments are put above all the people if that makes sense

and i think they don’t just benefit from what israel does, they benefit from us thinking that israel is what drives us to do things

Yeah that’s basically my position just phrased a little differently. Though I definitely don’t think we’d be at war with Iran if not for Israel. I don’t doubt we’d still do some fuck shit in the Middle East without Israel, but a full scale war with Iran would be so ruinous for the US I don’t believe we’d do it if not for Israel. Don’t forgot Israel has been wanting war with Iran for a while now. The entire Zionist project, reclaiming greater Israel, etc., has been like this since its inception

In this case the US is doing bad things literally for Israel’s sake… largely because of money, and to a lesser extent due to certain protestant death cults

but are we though? if we were doing it for Israel’s sake we’d be trying to replace the Ayatollahs with a secular democracy but it seems like we’re just trying to create as much chaos as possible
