It usually goes deeper than outward discrimination or hate speech. Micro aggressions and even the way we talk about certain groups. Calling ppl Jews, Blacks, Whites, Arabs, ect. in itself is bigoted. It makes it easier to dehumanize ppl. Ur only seeing them as their race or ethnicity

I’ve generally gotten the feeling that people use terms like Jews, blacks, whites, and such more for convenience rather than out of malicious intent. People a part of these groups will do it themselves. I just have a bit of a hard time seeing this as aggressive language by itself, without considering the context in which it’s used.

It’s not hard to say “black ppl” or “Jewish ppl”. Or black folk, Jewish folk, ect. U aren’t rlly wasting anything to say “folk, ppl, or community” imo. The reason ppl within these groups do it, is because it’s been so normalized. For example, many black ppl have anti-black thoughts because it’s inherent in media. If u grow up only seeing light skin black women as the beauty standard u internalize that and start believing darker skinned women are ugly.

I believe that, by definition, zionism is a nationalist movement inherently tied to Jewish ownership of Palestine and support for the Jewish state. Thus, assuming all Jewish people are Zionist’s we assume they support Israel and its position in the Middle East. This feels like a broad generalization we can’t make as personal politics vary. Thus, the assumption would be prejudiced, looping back to my reasoning earlier.

Not wanting your culture and people attacked and harassed by others is completely valid. The Jews also have plenty of reasons to be militaristic, considering the threats their culture has been under for centuries. However I think that desire for cultural survival isn’t unique to the academic definition of Zionism. I think one can want the former without supporting Israel and its actions/current state.

I was under the impression that Palestine also refers to the rough region between the Mediterranean and Jordan river. I am referring to that area when I say “Jewish ownership of Palestine”. Once again, the desire for a Jewish state there makes sense due to its cultural importance, which is why it’s also an important part of Zionism.

My main point is this: it’s erroneous to assume everyone in a group thinks the same way or supports the same idea. It’s wrong to assume all liberals love socialism. It’s wrong to assume all republicans hate abortions. And it’s wrong to assume all Jewish people support Zionism. Do some people have these views? Absolutely, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But we lose a valuable part of the conversation when we group everyone together into one line of thought.
