Interesting side note but the gradual loss of the southern accent is a shame. I can go to places in my own state and get looked at like some kind of pest for having a native accent

I feel like most people are unwilling to view dialect discrimination as a form of classism, but that’s absolutely what it is. It’s very similar to how many minority languages have died. Possessing that dialect or language is seen as inferior and lower class, causing it not to be transmitted to the next generation, and reducing cultural diversity.
