TW // enbyphobia, transphobia, food the whole nonbinary roommate and dishes trope is honestly the erasure of our trauma being in transphobic and homophobic families. ptsd can also be triggered by textures and wet food can trigger our anxiety.

This sounds like a personal anecdote, I’ve never heard of this trope or heard of a widespread trigger when it comes to doing dishes

hi so im nonbinary, is the trope that nonbinary roommate doesn’t do their dishes?? first that’s a weird stereotype, second if it’s the textures and wet food stuff that’s a neurodivergent thing, not a nonbinary thing.

I’m also nb and neurodivergent. I work at a bar and dishes are a very common thing. I do have a huge issue with dishes because soaking my hands in water for a while makes my nails soft and it makes my skin crawl just thinking about it. I’ve discovered just using some tight latex gloves helps with preventing wrinkles in skin and those disgusting soft nails.

so there’s this whole thing about nonbinary ppl and dishes even though some of us have genuine trauma from chores that stems from our childhood. it’s like our trauma is dismissed as a joke

depending how strict your parents were, some of us actually used to get whooped if we didn’t do dishes in a timely manner. physical punishment can cause ptsd in adulthood
