I feel like legalizing all gerrymandering has legit set us back around 30 years in terms of that Since the precedent is now you cannot ban gerrymandering without a constitutional amendment

It annoys me that both sides are going “let’s gerrymander more” instead of “let’s ban it across the board”

I have a bad feeling about this being a plot in order to force congress’ hand on hosting a constitutional convention, thus creating an opportunity for the fascist Christian nationalists in office to essentially overhaul large swaths of the constitution itself, rather than merely banning gerrymandering. the SC has already essentially fallen to the whim of Christian nationalist white supremacy, if they succeed in amending the constitution in their favor things are going to get a whole lot worse.

Though I should note that Dems are the ones more in favor of a national ban

One side tried to ban it across the board and the other didn’t want to pass it. That’s why we’re in this position, and continuing to try to play nice isn’t going to help

I agree, and it’s very annoying

I was worried about this when all the talk about constitutional conventions arose a few months ago (maybe a year?), but the SC essentially forcing gerrymandering to require an entire amendment in order to be outlawed heavily reignites that fear…
