The lefts lack of patriotism of being American is a big reason why Trump won in 2024 and this is coming from someone who voted 3rd party in 2024. The left lecturing people why they shouldn’t celebrate the 4th is another example of virtue signaling

Genuinely never heard any political leader say you shouldnt celebrate the 4th. Heard many conservatives say not to celebrate Juneteenth and it’s not a real holiday though. Many people don’t celebrate the 4th (especially black people) because we recognize and understand that the only thing you’re celebrating is white freedom.

It’s more then we don’t wanna hear people talking about Americas imperfect history when we spend so much time talking about it yes we get it. America is the only country ever who has done wrong

Nobody said America is the only country to ever do something wrong. You hear about America’s problem because you live in America. Also it’s not history. Minorities are still very much oppressed. It’s hard to celebrate America when you see people who look like you still being lynched or watching people who look like you be shot and their murderers walk free. Hard to not have resentment for a country that you poor your all into but can’t have that effort reciprocated.

It’s easy to close yourself off to the criticism when you aren’t exposed to the situations that give rise to those criticisms. It’s hard for a black person to celebrate the 4th and how “great” this country is when they saw a Rick Chow murder a child and walk free or see 2 black men defend themselves against an aggressor and be charged with first degree premeditated murder
