Can someone explain why liberals are hating on Jelly Roll right now? Not sure how widespread it is but I’ve seen so much complaining and calling to boycott on social media. Only thing I can find is that he didn’t praise satan in his award speech

Well there could be a few reasons. He was convicted of assault and robbery and got a pardon from the governor of Tennessee after asking to be able to do “Christian missionary work” which in my personal opinion is not reason enough to be let off the hook for one’s crimes. He also has not been critical of Trump in the way other artists have and may even support him

Every time they are asked why or to explain their reasoning, they just say “because I’m informed” or “keep drinking the koolaid” I’m genuinely curious if I’ve missed something about the guy

Thank you for at least giving me a reason, i appreciate it. I genuinely had no clue. I don’t think being critical of Trump makes someone a good artist though 😂 by you saying “may even support him” means he doesn’t discuss politics because we don’t know, which is the way to go.

I mean I don’t like face tats either but that’s not a reason to boycott or complain about him 🤣 celebrities do weird things to themselves. Look at Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus teeth, just some examples 😳 they give me the ick but I don’t need to boycott them bc of it. Also I know you know stage names are a thing 😂

Oh I agree, someone can make absolutely trash music and criticize Trump, just as someone who makes good music might be a Trump supporter. As far as the “may support him” thing goes, yeah, he has been trying to be pretty tight-lipped about politics which in his case is probably the best move. I don’t think it’s fair justify boycotting him ONLY because he didn’t speak out against ICE, but there are definitely other reasons (i.e. his prosecution/pardon) that have merit
