I honestly don’t know where the numbers come from for this sorta shit. I often hear it’s counting the Nazis for the USSR’s death tolls. But the USSR also killed a fuckton of people who absolutely weren’t Nazis.

Lot of ethnic cleansing of ethnic groups living on the Soviet periphery, plus the famines (often preventable), plus the political purges, plus the invasions of independent states like the Baltics, Finland, Poland, etc.

Well yeah but all things considered 25+ million people dying is still not a great outcome. Like I get there were possibly worse ones but I wouldn’t say that was exactly a good one either. I’m not really sure what the original context is of the post (like it doesn’t make sense to pin this on communism per se) but still I think that’s pretty bad

The far right, “black book of communism” where the co author admitted they picked a figure first and then worked backwards. That 20 million figure includes the millions of nazis killed in wwii

Well yeah ofc, wwii sucked ass for most of all of the world? It just reflects how bloody the war was on all sides. Millions of Russians were also killed by Nazis The context of the post was commenting that this community is very anti communism and this person was defending capitalism as the greatest system of all time

Capitalism isn’t great but neither is communism honestly. Both have good parts that should be blended together into an optimal system
