In that, I don't necessarily think the Nazi ideology would have been any better even if racial groups were meaningful categorizations determining a person's value in society. If we lived in a world where this was the case and it was the objectively best racial groups ever doing this, the totalitarian ideology and government would have still have been wrong. The reason I added in calling themselves socialists is because we have a particular branch of totalitarians in our history who do this.

I don't think any totalitarianism belongs on this holiday, it's probably the biggest theme of what we fought against 250 years ago that I agree with. We were certainly imperfect at doing so as well, hell we even had ownership of other people at the time, but I'd be damned to say that our ideals weren't there.

Thats why it is my biggest issue and the first thing that comes to mind for me. I understand that treating people unfairly because of racial ideology is a bad thing completely, however I think we can strive for an even greater ideal of just treating people fairly in general.
