if leftists can understand why colonialism and the invasion of traditional homelands in Africa, Asia, and the Americas by European settlers was a bad thing, why can’t they possibly comprehend why Europeans might not like immigration into their homelands

You can’t colonize and ultimately destabilize a country for your own country’s benefit then get upset when people from said country move to your country to flee the poor conditions you created 💀

The difference is power dynamics. Under colonialism, the native people were in the disempowered position, and were displaced. Under the current immigration regime, said immigrants are usually in the disempowered position. Because they are less powerful, they don’t displace native inhabitants in the same way.

Nah you absolutely can get upset and you can choose to put up barriers, physical or otherwise. And they are. Besides, most countries in Europe were not responsible for colonization it was like 8
