We are literally currently governed by white supremacists who don’t believe in democracy. The American population hates “Nazis”. The American population also knows essentially nothing about the Nazis or what they believed or how they seized power, they just know they were bad. That’s by design, because to anyone with even a modest historical education regarding fascism, it’s pretty clear not only that “it can happen here too”, but that it already is.
