OH OH I KNOW ABOUT THIS ONE!! Ask and axe come from the word acsium (meaning ask) and axe (or variations of axe) appear in English literature since at least the 1300s. AAVE isn’t the only English dialect to retain axe either. Both are valid.
If mispronouncing words is a microaggression then “ax” instead of “ask” is also a microaggression Prove me wrong

well… not to be overly pedantic but I would say both are equally valid today, because they both evolved very naturally and predictably according to historical English word evolution trends.
