That’s part of the reason the US military is so involved with other countries in the pacific

We talk about this a lot in my conservation classes. I feel like the reason probably is that it’s almost always in international waters (though they sometimes illegally enter other countries) so it really isn’t something which is legislated or which directly threatens American sovereignty.
