This is actually a great way to describe this. It wouldn’t be bad for there to be trillionaires as long as there weren’t people starving or dying just because they don’t have enough money

Theres actually not anyone in the US starving from lack of money. The CDC keeps data on this. Less than 30 Americans (0.000009%) starve on an annual basis. Invariably these are horrible cases of abuse or neglect, not poverty.

But there are many people dying from malnutrition or secondary causes of malnutrition like liver failure, seizures, etc. which is commonly from poverty and lack of education

I say starvation rather than malnutrition because people think malnutrition isn’t something people die from other than lack of calories to burn in their body (aka starvation) so people tend to understand better by using starvation as an overall word for those things

But I also think that it’s not just about the people in that direct country but people everywhere that should be your concern when you’re a trillionaire. You have the ability to save starving people in other countries without putting a dent into your wealth, and that’s what you should do

Death by starvation used to be common. It’s a modern miracle that we’ve virtually eliminated it. It’s okay to acknowledge progress while also knowing theres still work to be done. We have lots of problems to solve, but we have less poverty than almost any society in human history.

Yes, because starvation is fine as long it’s not the CAUSE of death. Are you hearing yourself?

The only evidence you gave to support your point was the number of deaths via starvation. My argument is that no one should be forced to starve even if they survive. Starving in general is not something that should happen.

My point was that starvation deaths from poverty have been virtually eliminated in this country. We all agree that starvation is not something that should happen. Unfortunately it has occurred in every society in human history, typically at a much higher rate.

You also didn’t debunk any of mother_russia’s points on why only basing your point on starvation deaths is disingenuous.
