Medicine scarcity is fake. We could cure many diseases in their entirety that still kill hundreds of thousands or even millions worldwide. We just don’t. That’s murder.

Not always. It takes a lot of resources and expertise to make stuff like monoclonal antibodies. This is the stuff that the future of medicine is based on

Yes. Like, cheap medicine that could effectively exist worldwide but just doesn’t. Like antibiotics. I’m aware brand new medical technologies are not artificially scarce, dawg. I’m not mad every third world country hasn’t cured hiv with gene therapy yet or some shit

It’s funny you use HIV as this example bc we tend to take for granted the fact that ppl with it can now live normal lives with medication. Which is still expensive, but doesn’t have to be

True but those aren’t really cures they just prevent the negative affects. But yes I’d say prep and the one that makes it so hiv doesn’t kill you should also just be available for anyone on earth. The fact they aren’t is murder.

Yes and no. I agree that they should be more readily available and cost significantly less, but not available for everyone on earth. You should definitely see a medical professional before taking things like antiretrovirals and antibiotics bc without proper usage you can very easily create superbugs that are resistant to many known antibiotics. Also TB is kinda complicated in that once you have it you kinda have it forever, your body just walls it off in your lungs 1/2

We can and regularly do treat people before they have a really bad TB infection and they can get over it with the proper antibiotic regiment, but again it needs to be done right and with proper instructions to prevent complications from taking substances which can also harm you 2/2
