The US trying to hold a 500 mile coast line killbox around the strait seems impossible with 5000 marines, that’s 10 guys holding an entire mile Does anyone know if I’m wrong? Genuinely not a military guy it just seems trivial for Iran to break thru

Nah you’re right, every single ground strategy that’s been publicly discussed by the administration has been straight up poop from a butt. Like, Kharg Island? Suicide mission. You can’t launch a ground assault on an island that’s literally in fucking artillery range of the mainland. This coastline kill box idea? Under-manned, also a suicide mission.

Like marines are good but I don’t think they could hold like a small sub-unit of like 250 people who’s goal was to quickly set up a drone and launch it

It’s possible to make that island unusable by like nuking it. But I don’t think the US wants that goal, because that would cripple Iranian oil for a long time and would ultimately just make gas prices way higher
