Periods are mostly a modern phenomenon. Before the industrial revolution, fertile women were pregnant nearly all the time. Thats still the case in modern hunter gatherer tribes.

Its just a true statement. Modern women have far more periods than our ancestors did. Thats actually one of the reasons breast cancer rates are out of control. Theres an entire movement to change how birth control works to reduce the number of periods women have in order to prevent cancer.
