I also didn’t get a credit card which was dumb but I’m terrified of them. The lending system in this country is built upon predation and relying on people to fuck up and act on impulse and make mistakes or poor choices with money…… and this country doesn’t have strong financial education or literacy and I have ADHD

That would fuck up the housing market even more. Think of all of the stuff that most of the population buys on loans. Cars, houses, college education, medical treatment, ect. All that would do is lock 90% of the population out of being able to get a house or car wow majorly fucked them over if they ever got hurt (even with insurance)

I don’t just think we should abolish the concept of loans *only* lmao. That’s not my only policy prescription. Bro, in my ideal society, you turn 18 and the government gives you a free place to live. Private housing would still exist, but you would essentially have a permanent living space.

Also, every single thing you listed is something that’s artificially inflated in price specifically to force you to go into debt. Cars do not need to be 70k for the base model, they aren’t in other comparable countries. Houses are artificially inflated in price by the speculative market and huge companies hoarding the supply. Subsidized college is a fucking worldwide standard. Same with subsidized healthcare. All the things you described are things that Americans SPECIFICALLY get scammed with.
