Completely manufactured justification. They don’t like their former satellite states moving out from under their thumb. And I don’t think “defending the Russian people” necessitates attempting to deny the existence of Ukrainians as a people, massacres of civilian populations, and forcibly Russifying kidnapped Ukrainian children.

You didn’t reply to the point I made about how supporting Russia makes you a revolutionary working class intellectual. That’s okay. I never argued that Russia “respects constitutions” (abstract qualifier). I said that in 2014 the illegal coup of Ukraines government led it to become a colony of the ruling class

2014 was the ousting of a pro-Russian puppet government to a pro-western one. At most that is a lateral shift. It’s not like before 2014 Russian oligarchs weren’t influencing Ukraine for their own interests.
