“Battleship” is a specific type of Naval vessel, not just “All Ships Involved in Battle” and as a type of vessel, they are obsolete and outclassed in the modern day by the still relevant Destroyers, Cruisers, Carriers, etc.

Like, we still have 4 Iowa-Class Battleships but they’re primarily used for ceremonial purposes. Carriers make better flagships, Destroyers make better offensive units, and Cruisers do basically the same job as a Battleship with the huge guns but they’re cheaper to build and smaller so they’re not just a massive target on the water. Dreadnoughts/Battleships are cool lookin, but not so functional in modern war.

So he’s just building these ships because of aesthetic reasons. I am not surprised because this administration is so a vibe administration that it makes Mussolini blush

Yeah it’s all vibes and aesthetics, which was actually the only ever advantage Battleships had over other ships, they were simply terrifyingly large and worked as a psychological warfare thing for a lot of the latter part of their use
