Goddamn these people are bleeding CA dry, even when libs try to gaslight us that they contribute more than they take.

It’s costing California more than expected to provide immigrant health care. Is coverage at risk?

Bold to assume they could read

I mean that's still not really arguing against the fact that this is an issue.

I even read the part where it says that illegals contribute about as much as they do as it costs for MediCal, about $8B. Which seems ok on the surface? But it doesn’t even begin to include the many costs for other programs these people are on à la anchor baby. In liberal land we’re just going to ignore that they halted enrollment for this program after the feds demanded more reporting for federal funding. Not hard to connect the dots.

Not to mention the many times through the article where even Newsom is basically saying (through his actions) “damn this costs too much”

So OP, the solution to an exploding program overrun with Covid senior is to… expand to illegals?

The solution is tax the 1% to fund it actually

So simple, so elegant, right? And everyone gets to keep their healthcare!

Alternatively, California stops subsizising the REAL drain on our taxes - red states who don’t give back anywhere as much as they take. California has an EIGHTY THREE BILLION DOLLAR tax surplus. If they turned that back inward…

and with THAT solution, they don’t even need to raise taxes on anyone!

Sorry, where are you seeing this surplus? Afaik they finished last year with an $18B deficit

I don’t see the connection between the reporting demand and halting new enrollments. Existing enrollees are still able to renew, so if federal funds were being used, they would still show on the report. It’s likely connected to the deficit

Part of a solution to an exploding program is to have Medi-Cal directly negotiate with drug manufacturers, just like the federal government now does with Medicare. Large states like CA need to use their bargaining power

It’s not the budget of the state- it’s the difference between how much CA pays in federal taxes and how much it receives in federal aid. It pays vastly more in federal taxes- about double. The majority of “taker states”, that pay less in federal taxes than they receive, are red- most of the GDP in the US is generated in places like California, which if was considered separate from the US would be worlds 4th largest economy.

Notable exceptions to the rule are Texas and Florida. The top 4 donor states are CA, Texas, New York, Florida.

God this is why I don’t bother arguing with libs. They only argue what “should” happen rather than the reality of our society. Then they blame conservatives for doing the same thing. Ok keep funding illegals at the expense of broke Americans and see how that works out.

You asked about solutions. Why are you complaining about the word “should” 😭

#3 doesn’t want solutions, he wants to complain about nonexistent problems to distract from real ones.

But libs won’t even discuss that, whole expecting me to dole out the “proof” that enables their ideal.

Dawg, we’ll discuss it. We just have yet to hear a convincing argument that “exclude the illegals” is better than “tax the fucking billionaires so those without billions can be healthy”

I think everyone should have free healthcare, actually, no matter who they are. Even prisoners should. You said “well the article says the contribution and cost is about equal for the program the article is discussing, but doesn’t include other unrelated costs” which… okay, whatever. Then you implied there was a conspiracy regarding misuse of funds. Considering what you’re claiming- I think asking for evidence is pretty reasonable!
