2 important things to remember: 1) the "stages" framework is sorta like "the 5 stages of grief" in that it's not always linear. we've passed through and returned to every stage up to 9 2) anywhere this says "murder" or "killing" should be replaced with "destroyed" or "destruction" because kill count isn't what makes a genocide
