It’s honestly about finding the right fiction? Like for me 90% of what’s out there is shit, 8% is passable, and I actually like 2%. Fortunately the world of fiction is Fucking Gigantic so 2% is billions of collective words

OKAY - GENUINE TIP. THE BEST WAY TO BREAK OUT OF ADADEMIC PROSE IS TO SAY THINGS *WRONG, BUT MORE.* For instance. It is extremely easy to say “I planted my face into the wooden table.” Easier to say “I faceplanted into the table, hard.” But if you say “I proceeded to french the table. Intimately.” IT GETS THE SAME IDEA ACROSS WHILE BEING INFINITELY MORE INTERESTING TO READ.
