
wrong. you will lose some people who can currently afford med school who are in it for the money, yeah. and that’s not a bad thing imo but there are countless individuals who would love to be doctors for the right reasons, and who ARE our best and brightest, who just can’t afford med school/the application process.
I’ll tell you right now, the most competitive specialties are the ones that make the most money. Call me crazy but I want the smartest person in the room to be operating in my brain if I ever need a neurosurgeon. And I want the best one. How are they motivated to be the best? By knowing they can make a shit ton of money by being the best.
that’s a completely different question. and like i never look at a very good doctor and go “they shouldn’t make a lot of money”. the pediatric ortho at Boston children’s that saved my life when I was 15 probably makes a shit ton and I think that’s great But he is good AND he makes a lot of money; not BECAUSE he makes a lot. And people who get into the job for the wrong reasons are actively dangerous.
