So is everyone just casually forgetting the fact that Texas and a few other red states created House seats out of thin air to counteract any progress the Dems could make in the midterms or have we genuinely not thought that far ahead?

Texas is the main example right now though other red states are doing it; they’ve essentially created new seats and ensured GOP victories in some preexisting districts by redistricting the state’s voting districts starting last year (that normally doesn’t happen until after the census every ten years, the next one would be 2030 so they’ve essentially done it 5 years early to ensure victories in the midterms)

They lowkey may have fucked up though, because some of those districts are now +5 instead of +10 (for example), and can be flipped easier

CA did their’s in response to Texas’ efforts and at least had the decency to let the state’s citizens vote on it instead of forcing it on them

It’s definitely a gamble, but with how this country is looking I don’t see it being too risky for the GOP
