finding out only 42% of nonbinary people identify as trans (the rest identify as cis) made me feel crazy + sad.

1.2 million LGBTQ adults in the US identify as nonbinary

honestly yeah ive noticed theres cis enbies and trans enbies, if its right to call them that? im nonbinary but i definitely am trans and am transitioning. theres nothing wrong with not doing that, i guess people just use the term differently

i havent really encountered it so this study rlly felt like i got blindsided lol. like… nonbinary people are trans, what do u mean more than half of nonbinary people identify as cis? also idk, maybe the language around gender/gender identity has gotten narrower in recent years. why ID as nonbinary but not trans, when labels like GNC/tomboy/femboy/butch/femme/masc/etc exist? i just don’t get it (but again, prob bc i haven’t really seen it).

yeah ik about that (and there are many intersex nonbinary people who identify as trans), but that’s not really what’s being discussed in the study. the majority of nonbinary people identifying as cis aren’t intersex.
