my insurance won their federal court case to legally deny coverage for gender dysphoria ✌️ 🤪 so thank god i got top surgery one month before the cut off and ran myself ragged organizing everything to get it done ASAP

not an insurance company but my plan, although west virginia medicaid i'm pretty sure followed suit. i'm on the north carolina state employees health plan, so fun fact, because of other factors, including but not limited to the western part of our state being destroyed by a hurricane and receiving pitiful federal funds in comparison to our needs, my medication prices have tripled and it's $500 to go to the ER before i get anything done, so if i get raped i'm financially barred from filing a kit

yeah, basically the court is allowing hrt and surgeries to be banned by the states so it really is a ymmv thing now. however, there’s fortunately still non-federally funded insurance which may still be able to help you if you’re fortunate to obtain it :) of course not everyone is fortunate to be able to access it

i don't think it's a function of federal funding. my plan didn't ban coverage bc it's federally funded; they were banning it for the love of the game long before now
