I’m genderfluid and id like to start T to get a lower voice but i dont want too many of the changes because if my identity (looking for androgyny) would a low dose give me what im looking for? Thanks!

ayyy i’m also on T for androgyny 😝 voice change is supposed to be one of those things that’s irreversible so you could be on T until your voice is where you want it and then just stop a low dose would just mean slow changes though idk that it exactly changes the intensity, if that makes sense

Low dose doesn’t mean less changes — slower changes, sure (though what “slow” actually means is different from person to person), but the actual types of changes you get will likely be the same and there’s no way to control for what changes you’ll get first or just in general. It’s possible that your voice will drop with minimal other outwardly visible changes, but it’s also possible that you’ll get other changes with minimal voice drop. If you only want voice changes I recommend voice training.

maybe get vocal fold injections if you don’t want other effects of T

i went up on my dose of T as fast as i could, but my voice didn't audibly drop until 4-5 months. i was already on 3 pumps of testosterone gel by then i think. thats very much not a low dose, the max is 4 pumps for the brand i take. on a low dose it'll take longer and you'll likely have some bottom growth, hair growth, and fat redistribution noticeably first before your voice drops. but it also depends on your genetics and possibly method of taking T

it also just depends on how you specifically react to it since every body is slightly different in what changes happen and when

however, if you're not entirely opposed to the other changes of testosterone, they may help you appear more androgynous. bottom growth is permanent as far as i'm aware, and possibly some changes in hair growth. but on a low dose you may not get a lot of facial hair so it'll be easier to shave. tbh i love T and the affects so im biased. the internet likes to fearmonger over it. you won't be gross on T unless you actively try to be lol
