Words have meanings, and at the same time, why hate on someone for applying a word to their OWN experience that they feel personally fits them best? If “gay trans women” or “lesbian trans man” or whatever else is out there is the best descriptor for someone’s own personal experience, why try to tell them it’s not? Definitions should exist! At the same time, we’re humans living unique experiences and we’re all a lot more complicated than a textbook definition
Hopefully you see this before it gets removed. Sometimes people are only willing to accept trans men lesbians because of bioessentialism. They think it’s only possible because trans men were “AFAB”. Which is dumb. And excludes trans women lesbians. THIS ISNT EVERYONE but I have also seen some trans men lesbians spreading this rhetoric which does much more harm than good
It’s pretty concerning that you’re aware your other reasons might get you banned. I just don’t understand why you feel the need to control how other people describe their own personal experiences, which you yourself cannot have not lived. We can’t know what other people’s gender identity feels like, and I don’t see the point in trying to tell them that they’re wrong about themselves
Do you understand that #2 is for trans men lesbians? Like they are agreeing with us! They are just pointing out another issue in the nuance that happens. Some people think trans men lesbians are okay but not trans women just because trans men were “born women.” Which is also wrong and bad. Both are acceptable, not one or the other!
I never said anything about not letting other people live their lives lmao. I clearly said that I don’t hate trans men lesbians. And the reason why I brought them up is because there’s so much more said about trans men lesbians than gay trans women. And frankly I’m a little annoyed whenever people try to just say “read our history”. A history of exclusion and hatred from the rest of the queer community is what I see. And don’t tell me to read stone butch blues! It’s not even about a trans man
Unless I’m wrong and they’re saying it’s weird people are using that label. It really doesn’t matter what people use for themselves as long as they don’t do the harm which #2 is describing. Words do have meaning, but contradictory labels are also okay because there is nuance in the multitude of life experiences out there.
Stone butch blues is literally about a transmasc lesbian though, which is why it’s an important read. I know Feinberg isn’t a binary man, but some people still have problems with non-binary lesbians too. History of gender nonconformity and contradicting labels is what “read your history” means, I don’t really understand, if you see queer infighting that’s not what “read your history” means.
The reason why trans men lesbians are more of a debate (unfortunately a debate) than gay trans women is because it also has ties to TERF (trans exclusionary radical feminism) so the debate is whether men are allowed in lesbian spaces. I know it’s weird though I’m just stating why it is probably a wider discourse
I am talking about trans men lesbians so stone butch blues still doesn’t apply lol. But I do understand that some people have issues with nb lesbians—I do not and again was not talking about that. I am just frustrated when people tell me “read history” when they clearly haven’t even looked critically at the history themselves
sidenote, but putting "trans man lesbians" & "words should have meaning" right next to each other tends to be a massive red flag for bad-faith discourse (no matter the intent), which is NOT what this space is for. please realize that others will understandably misinterpret you when you start off with a slogan.
