I need actual advice on how to put my name down on job applications/resume while unable to get a legal name change and living with unsupportive parents for the time being. I’m unable to be stealth in either direction so.
I’d say just go deadname on applications, but if they seem like an accepting crowd let them know what’s up. But keep the closet option available

You can use your preferred name on applications and resumes. That’s no problem. You’ll just likely need to provide your legal name for background checks.

My chosen name is very gender neutral so I just used that. Def doesn’t work for everyone though

Sometimes I do: Deadname “Chosen name” Last name. Outs you immediately but avoids confusion

i’ve never had any problems putting my “chosen” name on applications. you’ll just have to put ur dead name on paper work for payroll and legal stuff

So, thing is my deadname is very feminine but even over the phone my voice is low enough that most people don’t assume I’m a woman. Either way I’ll get clocked, even if they don’t know whether I’m ftm or mtf or something else.

Ah, you just gotta own it. It’s scary esp when you’re new but just roll with it, if you’re confident, polite, and don’t let it get in the way you won’t have issues. It’s not about passing it’s about being likable really

and ig it depends on the job but a lot of places i’ve worked you can put a preferred name in your system so it shows that instead of the deadname
