if it was done on accident and not with malice, having a convo with them and explaining the situation and why it's not cool to do and telling them to not do it again works in my experience (if they continue though, they're not a cool person and you shouldn't invest in that relationship) if it was done with malice, still call them out and be like "hey that wasn't cool, i didn't appreciate that [list reasons why] and if you want to be better, try not to do that again"

if they're a dick about it, try to distance yourself and stop investing in the relationship. also, in general, assume incompetence/stupidity before malice. approach the convo with kindness and with explanations that lets builds in a "i know you didn't do this on purpose to try to harm me" attitude to help ppl not get defensive all situations are different and complex but i hope that helps 🫡🫡

Someone who used to be my best friend and now hates me is going on a revenge sequence. She told the guy that I’ve been on/off with that I was on testosterone and was using a masculine name during my private therapy sessions. This was very intentionally outing me to another person that I made clear that I hadn’t discussed or disclosed it with. This honestly feels like a hate crime.
