being a man with a period is so frustrating like i have nobody to talk to this about. i have my hormones on top of everything and i can’t just explain that to some people and it just so debilitating

Also all the period stuff is female-centered, which makes sense, but then you need to talk abt it and :(

i don't anymore bc i got a hysterectomy but yeah. it's incredibly isolating to not have ppl you can talk to about gynecological issues of any kind without being labeled a woman

like by all indications i used to have severe endometriosis that mangled my right ovary to the point of infertility + fused it to both my uterus and back abdominal muscles. When my doc removed it she went "yeah getting that out now was the right decision", because it would've given me lifelong pain otherwise. It seemed like testosterone calmed it down enough to scar over and heal based on the age of the scarring and the timeline of when i started T; I had 4 - 6 day heavy periods before that

yeah i want to get a hysterectomy, i have really heavy periods that last about 7-9 days long and my cycle in general is just very long so it seems irregular. i haven’t gotten anything checked out and i have yet to go to a gynecologist or anything which ik i should but im scared lol and i know that my periods are crazy even on a regular standard (im not on HRT at all yet)

My mom had adenomyosis and it looked like I had something like early stage adenomyosis too, which ultimately bc of the pelvic pain justified complete removal of everything except the one ovary that was less painful (and turns out, that's because it's completely fine and the other one was not!) it's a relief to be free of it now. i underestimated how much it was impacting my daily life until i woke up from an exploratory hysteroscopy and i was in less pain and less nauseous than before surgery

if you happen to be in northwest Washington, i highly recommend doctor lindsay parker w/ peacehealth. She made it exceptionally easy - i was forthcoming with the fact that i was motivated by both gender affirming and normal healthcare reasons h(due to family history) to get a hysterectomy, and she even asked which route i wanted it filed through insurance with

unfortunately i’m from texas so… it’s a rough life out here, and i can easily go to new mexico but my insurance won’t cover anything last i checked so it’s been kind of hard to look for anything

and if surgery in particular scares you, there are non-surgical options for treatment for this stuff! it's all kinda risky with dysphoria but imo it's still worth trying

yeah, i’ve been meaning to get it checked out here in New Mexico and then try and see if i can go into a planned parenthood and see what the best course of action would be yknow? but we’ll have to see cause im also broke lol
