like i dont want to be called a doll or be in that movement but i wish parts of the trans community supported trans men and gave us that same kind of visibility, im not trying to steal from trans womens movements i genuinely agree that trans women are under fierce attack and they deserve their own movement, but trans men are also trans and experience a LOT of discrimination, im gen just tryna learn new perspectives and get outside feedback
I agree. I understand that as a trans man I have more privileges than my trans femme friends bc the patriarchy works “in my favor” (it harms everyone) but also being trans masc is something cishets forget exist and we don’t get the space or platforms to talk about our experiences and challenges. I wish that we had something similar, not bc one matters more than the other, but bc both are unique and deserve to have their voices heard
I think much of the “protect the dolls” movement was spurred on by Whipping Girl, Julia Serano’s book on transmisogyny (which is a really good read even/especially if you’re transmasc) which allowed a more unified movement. Transfem voices are being amplified as they should be, but in some communities at the cost of other points of view. There isn’t some gospel of transmasc issues and some trans men feel silenced in both queer and cis spaces so some tguys turn to toxic “men’s rights activism”
