What exactly would they do? Take away her personal property? Whether we like it or not, she has a right to express her beliefs. Any sort of reprimanding the school could possibly do would open themselves up to a world of lawsuits.

I always get jumpscared by the manji in Japanese stuff cause I forget that by definition the swastika is at an angle (that said, I do think some white people play around with the manji version just so they can be like “ummm no it’s Buddhist 😇” as plausible deniability while using it *as* a swastika, ykwim)

yeah, exactly. but that said, I do agree that it’s important to keep cultural context in mind in certain situations where you might encounter a manji! that’s a good reminder to look outside my own personal perceptions
