I’ll post it here too with the content warning of OBGYN and medical stuff. Anyone got advice for me bc I cannot keep ignoring my health but I’m completely terrified
I’m nonbinary but posting here because I guess it’s maybe most relevant/I desperately need advice. I need to get a Pap smear, but even the THOUGHT of it sends me into tears with terror. I’m absolutely terrified of it. I’m not really scared of pain -

i did mine with my college's student health clinic, who i had been to for other reasons and who had always been extremely accommodating and kind to me about being trans. you can ask them to let you have a support person in the room like a trusted friend (holding their hand may be helpful), for them to explain what they're doing before they do it, for them to not explain it and just get it done as fast as possible, and you can try to completely zone out with headphones and something for your hand

s to do like fiddle with something. some offices have a self swab option now where you stick the swab up into yourself, which is a good option. the worst part for me is and was having to put my feet in the stirrups. i focused on a corner of the ceiling and counted the dots in the tiles. schedule time after for processing. you can make it a point to go do something fun, or you could stay at home watching tv. let whatever feelings you have surface.
