
i call all my female friends and my own mother "bro" "dude" "man" "brother". it's just how some people's vocabulary is. obviously if someone is uncomfortable with being called any/all of those things, i'll stop as quickly as i can with them, but it isn't malicious and those words aren't inherently gendering in a lot of people's heads.
I said “everyone” but I really only do it in a casual context, i.e. with people I know at least a little.. that said, still wish we had better casual terms for each other outside of “twin” (only used in specific contexts). best one I’ve heard is from my supportive Deep South aunt who calls me “kin.” big fan of being called “kin” as an nb
