Not being sexually interested in a trans person is COMPLETELY fine. The issue is when people make their WHOLE personality hating trans people, then the second they get called out for their bigotry, pull some shit like “it’s just my sexual preference!”

We do have to not lie down and take it whenever someone says they’re not interested in a trans person tho. Rarely is it a genuine preference, and usually it’s just transphobia

Yeh I know what you mean. That’s why I said that’s an issue. Like, if I’m texting someone before we go out and I say “oh I’m trans btw.” And they say “Oh, sorry but that’s not really my cup of tea.” AWESOME. Cool! BUT often times literally no one asks them and they’re never had a trans person express interest in them. They just feel the need to BRING it up. Just on a “whim”. (Whim being transphobia.)

Even the “not my cup of tea” thing is weird to me. A normal person won’t ignore a minor but significant portion of the population just because of a few things that are out of our control. It’s extremely unfair and that type of behavior in a person makes me not like them. Which is fine I guess because they’re not into me into that case (and I’m not missing out)

What about genital preference is weird?

If someone only wants to have sex with people with penises, that means they might default to having sex with trans women who have dicks only because of their genitals. That in itself is pretty gross and reduces the individual to what is between their legs. I don’t think much of people who claim to have genital preferences, but they’re free to do whatever they want

I can also guarantee you that a lot of these “genital preference” people still would not have sex with/maybe even date a trans person post-bottom surgery. It’s not because of the genitals. It’s because we are trans

i'm also trans but this is a bad take imo. "it's not fair" doesnt apply to sex and dating. people don't choose who they're attracted to and quite frankly it's fine to not want to date a demographic of people for whatever reason. i dont fw pressuring people into attraction even if you think it shouldnt matter. there are better people for you to date if they arent attracted to u

sorry but the entire part of a standard allosexual sexual/romantic relationship that makes it different from a platonic relationship is the sex and attraction factor. you can love someone's personality & that's a brilliant foundation but if you aren't attracted to them physically you are not going to work out as a couple. you are better as friends

Stand up pls. I don’t think you understand what I’m saying. We are not like cis people where it’s understandable to not be attracted to someone physically because of height, weight, etc. if someone is attracted to you before knowing that you are trans but suddenly does an one-eighty as soon as you reveal that you are… That is not normal. Like I said. Even post-SRS, they will not like you.

Do you hear yourself??? It’s not pressuring. It’s just being aware of the true reasons behind many people claim to have a “preference”.

there are a lot of things that i could find out about someone that would make me no longer attracted to them despite my initial interest, and those things are not necessarily inherently bad. they are just things i don't think would work well for me. that's completely fine.

i could see someone's body under their clothes and decide i'm actually not really attracted to them and then we don't have sex. that isn't "not fair to them" because they were expecting to have sex with me. its fine to have preferences and urging people to try to be more okay with fucking people they don't want to fuck is just not a winning strategy nor a legitimate issue of the many trans ppl face these days imp

i just don't think people's individual preferences are fair or unfair. sometimes people don't like you back. if you have certain attributes (that are NOT necessarily your fault) you are less likely to be someone's type. it sucks, it really does, but ultimately it is just part of how attraction works.
