realized that i probably pass more than i think, people gender me correctly but ive always felt like they knew i was trans still bc it's obvious to me. but i had a phone call ask if they had the wrong number because they were looking for my deadname

so i'm starting to think i might just read as a gay cis man which is crazy to me. i am gay but im very open about being trans. i realized one of my employees might not know (he's the newest and i haven't worked with him much)

Dude me too!! Also I can relate to the phone calls, I’ll pick up and they’d be like “hello sir! Can I speak with Ms. [deadname]/ is [deadname] available to speak at the moment?” “Oh yeah that’s me” with a moment of silence before they continue on lmao.

i had one this weekend because i got a new car and had to go "yeah that's my legal name" it's weird because i tend to answer with a higher "customer service" pitch so assume it'll be read as female but somehow it isn't anymore. like i always assumed my voice was the main "give away" and hated that i would use feminine mannerisms but it's nice to be able to speak naturally and not get misgendered

Nah deadass same lmao, recently I even tried going high pitched to a family member I wasn’t out to yet (she called to wish me a happy new year) and she still asked if it was my brother who picked up 😭. Even though I feel like my jaw and voice are the only things that keep ppl from misgendering me fr
