We gotta do a feminist movement for men (that isn’t shitty) and for their mental health because tf u mean 90% of men are only afraid of trans women because they are afraid of being called gay Like we are some better mental health away from rights

I routinely tell my mother that universal therapy would solve like 95% of the world’s problems. Me: we discuss a political or global issue… “and you know what would fix that? ✨THERAPY✨”

I wish the system for therapy as a whole was better tbh but that’s a whole separate issue 😭😭😭

In theory yes but 99.9% of the time we both know that’s not how people use it

99% of people who claim to be feminists understand it's not a strictly women-exclusive thing and anybody who doesn't needs to be educated. but good luck i guess - maybe the Meninists or MRAs will take you?

There’s a reason I said not shitty 😭😭😭 If we just talking feminism on a separate issue I got hella problems with the current movement over simplifying problems and making it way harder for the average person to understand Like hell I’ve met gender studies people who still didn’t get the problematic rhetoric of “all men bad” and how at best it’s used as an excuse to exempt women from their part in upholding of gender norms and at worst it’s fascist propaganda

ok? there are problems with all movements. does that mean we should start from the ground up?

and let's ask ourselves, what is the purpose of a man-centric movement that is maybe not anti-feminist, but not-feminist? what exactly is the underlying ideology and what is the logical conclusion? feminism seeks to promote and enact equality among *all* genders (including those outside the binary) so what exactly is this man-movement? sounds like you'll either end up recreating meninists or just being feminists anyway...

I’m not saying it isn’t definitionally feminism I’m just saying if ur goal is to get men to go to therapy ur target audience isn’t gonna listen to someone calling themselves a feminist

feminism is a broad umbrella. i don't see why men can't just be feminists? like why is starting a ground-up movement (that just sounds like FeminismForTheBoys) the better option than men just... being feminists and refining feminist arguments/culture?

I understand that trust me I’ve read way too much theory What I’m saying is the term feminism alone is a massive turn off for anyone who hates an entire group of people because they don’t wanna be seen as gay and therefore creates a massive divide in the goals I’m suggesting in the original post

OMG YES OP! I was a feeling gender studies major and the misandry is STRONG in that one. In my experience as an organizer, the big name orgs can be largely problematic when it comes to this as well. Ideally feminism IS for everyone, BUT it has largely been wielded as a giant weapon by ::cough:: white women ::cough:: to exclude others. The downfall of patriarchy, tends to be how I approach it overall because a LOT of self proclaimed “feminists” are doing a lot of prop up in service of patriarchy

I feel like it’s a huge key to unlocking a lot of undoing of systemic harms. It leads to better mindsets and rethinking “norms” that are harmful to the wider world.
