Never did sports as a kid other than outside of school briefly. I’m not a sports guy but part of me wishes I could get back into fencing without being treated like a girl

i was thinking about getting back into swimming since i was on a team until covid and then i realized im 2 years on t no top surgery so that wud b mad awkward for me (one of the regulations for trans guys is that we have to stick to the uniform which is. yk. not chest friendly)

Fair For me I considered getting back into fencing, which fortunately uniform regulations aren’t too different (just safety plates and whatnot) but from what I remember sparring and such is strictly gendered so that’s where I get tripped up (also where I used to train is not in the most accepting area for folks like me)

I’ve never trained at a club where practice was gendered. Granted I’ve never trained that seriously, I went to a super academically driven school and sports were a side thing for us, it might be different when you get serious, but literally never have I been at a club where they didn’t let me practice with whoever I wanted.

I feel like fencing is one of those sports with fewer sex based differences than most? As in the difference in ability between men and women who aren’t professionals isn’t that high
